Jupyter Notebooks
If you want your studnets to work in Jupyter Notebooks in your course, there are at least two options:
- JupyterHub, provided through L&S IT
- Google CoLab, provides as part of the UCSB Google Drive subscription
Requesting a JupyterHub site
To request a JupyterHub site as a faculty member, use this link:
Using Google Colab at UCSB
For Google Colab, access Google Drive after logging in with your UCSBNetId.
Click the + New button, and you should see something like the screenshot below.
- Use the
Moreoption at the bottom of the menu, and then look in the additional options. - If you already see
Google Colaboratory, then you have Google Colab installed already. - If not, go to the bottom option that says
+ Connect More Apps. Search for “Colaboratory” and go through the steps to install it. You will need to instruct your students to do this also.
